Ruth Odinga announces next step after dropping out of Kisumu gubernatorial race

Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga has announced her future after dropping out of the gubernatorial race
- While addressing journalists, Odinga reaffirmed that she would continue discharging her duties as the deputy governor
- Her relationship with the incumbent, Governor Jack Ranguma has been quite frosty the better part of their first term
Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga has announced her political future ahead of the August General Election.

Speaking in Kisumu, Ruth said that she would like to be a running mate to the ODM aspirant who will emerge the winner in the upcoming party primaries.
Ruth dropped out of the Kisumu gubernatorial race saying she had not even paid the fee set for female aspirants of KSh250,000.
“I am not vying for governor and that can be confirmed from ODM party because I did not pay the nomination fees,” she said.

Governor Jack Ranguma remains the most popular in the Kisumu gubernatorial race
The deputy governor criticized a survey by Infotrack that placed her fourth with 3.0% while Governor Ranguma led the pack with 58%.
Ranguma’s challengers for the ODM ticket include Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o, businessman Hezron Mc’Obewa and Gordon Wayumba.
